Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel has expressed his gratitude to his girlfriend for her unwavering support during his 13-year incarceration. In a video shared on social media, the 48-year-old musician praised her patience and love, noting that she faced criticism from those who doubted her loyalty.
Kartel was released from prison on July 31, 2024, after his conviction for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams was overturned by the Jamaican Court of Appeals. In the video, he shared a clip of an interview where his girlfriend was questioned about her decision to remain loyal to him despite his lengthy imprisonment.
“You know I remember when I was in prison, she did this interview, and a lot of people were telling her she is delusional, she is this and that and a whole lot of things,” Kartel said. He then pointed out the irony of the situation, highlighting his newfound freedom and the critics’ disappointment.
“They were saying Kartel not coming out blah blah blah… look at us now,” he added, showing a video of himself and his girlfriend enjoying each other’s company.
The girlfriend, who could be seen smiling and laughing in the video, expressed her happiness and gratitude for Kartel’s release. In his caption, Kartel wrote;
“Look at us now! God and Time. #God is the greatest,” accompanied by emojis.
Interestingly, Kartel limited the comment section on the Instagram post. He also shared another video of the two of them, writing, “when you are each other’s intoxication.”
