Donald Trump, Former President of the United States of America, has been reinstated back online following a ban he was on.
Meta have confirmed they will unblock Trump from both platforms.
Trump had been suspended from Social Media by Meta on January 2021 from accessing online because he was encouraging an attack on Social media thus violating their policies against incitement of violence and misinformation, This was confirmed by the CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Meta had banned Trump indefinitely, but then they decided to extend his ban for 2 years after receiving guidance from their oversight board. On 7th January, Mark Zuckerberg decided to let the public know what had happened then on a post he updated on his page.
“We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely…….until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”
This is almost a similar incident like the one that Kanye West was involved in, although his didn’t take long, unlike Trump that has been out for over a period of 2 years.
Trump’s twitter account though was re instated immediately Elon Musk bought twitter after a poll that was held having many of the people voting for him to be unblocked.
Trump has then early today told meta that they should never do something of that sort again because they have lost a lot of money by banning the people’s Favorite president. This comes shortly after Trump was informed that he would be reinstated.
