President William Samoei Ruto of Kenya has asked the people of Kenya to be patient with him while he works to restructure the country and address its issues, which are making life difficult for the average common mwananchi.
President Ruto, while addressing the State of the Nation, said that he is aware of the current state of the nation, which has seen many Kenyans struggle to make ends meet. He said that the country was in a critical state when he took the powers from the former president, saying that despite having made tough decisions and transitions, he has been able to stop the way money was being wasted and asked Kenyans for patience as he is working on it.
“The country was living large and beyond its means when I came in. I have been able to stop wasteful expenditures and unsustainable subsidies to ensure that our country is back on track. This process involves some painful decisions, but it will be for the betterment of this nation,” President Ruto said.
However, President Ruto said in his speech that since the introduction of the hustler fund, an initiative that has been helping Kenyans has recorded a high level of significance, which shows that many have benefited from and are still going for it, an initiative that wasn’t initially there thanks to him.
“The Hustler Fund is now one of the most dependable sources of capital for doing business. So far, KSH 36.6B has been borrowed. The highest amount someone has been able to borrow from Hustler Fund is currently KSH 4.5 million.”
The country is currently experiencing a high cost of living after the government introduced new prices for foods and increased fuel prices by 100 percent.
Recently, CS Kithuri Kindiki announced new prices for identification cards, passports, marriage certificates, and birth certificates.
