Ever since COVID-19 hit the world, people resorted to working remotely, and this entailed that one can deliver from their end without necessarily being watched or supervised.
Even so, whether you are using work computers that of course don’t belong to you even if you are using it from the comfort of your home far from work there are things you should consider not doing.
Below are some of the things that you shouldn’t do on the work computer:
Temptations to Install certain apps
Very common and obvious that you may want other apps it can maybe be streaming apps, like Netflix, show max and such like or even installing games because you are using it right? Don’t even think about it. You know why?
A company machine always has monitoring software and be it you are miles away, they can always tell what you are doing with it. It’s just like a company vehicle has tracks, they will always know where you are and what you are up to. It’s always good to be responsible.
Don’t store Your Personnel Files
Never keep your personal information on those machines, more especially on the desktop or file searcher. If it happens that you are laid off, all this will go missing immediately. And of course to be on the safe side, like what if you had lied about something and one day as they are going through it, they see that. Be wise.
No Personal Google Search
Actually, I wanted to advise you to clear your browsing history, but then I remembered the website will always recommend you what you have been looking for, so you can’t really escape just refrain from using the work’s machine into looking for your own personal discrete information.
You seriously don’t want to be the topic of discussion, do you?
Don’t hold Private Conversations
Cut that crap of it’s just a quick one now that my phone and my machine is far lemmie use this! Something you very well know is not work related, remember all those conversations are always recorded and someday they are retrieved, so just use your own phone.
Always Lock your Computer when You’re done Using it
If you have finished using the machine, don’t just stand up and walk, leaving it unlocked. It’s always advisable to lock your computer when you are not around because in doing so, you are always giving others the option to access your confidential information and that of the company as well or even better, think of what if?
Don’t drag Your Side Hustles Here
This is actually self-explanatory, like why would you do something totally different in your work computer, this is something even your guts will just tell you it’s wrong and of course we are not going to talk about the consequences if pumped into.
Don’t watch Inappropriate Stuff
People like distractions a little bit, in fact everyone does, but it would be wrong risking it with the work machines because some information shouldn’t be looked into the work machines, especially films or rather content that has been rated as 18+. Always use your own means, not work’s.
Resetting the Computer
Congratulations, Whatever your name is you have been employed and now that you have been given your station, it doesn’t mean that you go changing passwords and keeping information that only you can access the machine, it’s a company computer remember and anyone can actually access it. Don’t make it hard for them
