The UDA Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja has admitted that he did not complete his degree at the University of Nairobi.
Speaking in an Interview with Spice FM, the Nairobi senator said that he faced a rough time and was not to pay his school fees at that time hence forcing him to drop out.
By the time he was now capable of paying, he felt too embarrassed and shy to still go back to class. He however says that it’s just 3 to 4 units which he has not completed but he will go back and complete his course.
“By the time I was able, I was too embarrassed and shy to go back to class, About three to four units but that’s something I will complete and finish it, there is no law that says you must bring a degree from the University of Nairobi,” explains Sakaja.
Sakaja explains that however much the CUE revokes his degree he still insists that he has a degree that he submitted and was at that time cleared.
The Senator still insists that this whole case is politically based but emphasises his credibility and passion to run Nairobi if elected the Governor.
“I have qualifications to run for the governor of Nairobi, not just qualifications, passion, competence and experience” continues Sakaja.
This is after the Commission for University Education revoked Sakaja’s degree certificate on Thursday for the second time.
The CUE’s Chief Executive argued that Sakaja failed to submit his most basic evidence of study adding that they did not receive any evidence from the aspirant and he ignored their earlier request which was to appear before the commission.
“Even the most basic evidence of study and the process of earning a degree inevitably renders the degree certificate submitted insufficient to prove that Sakaja studied either physically or through distance learning and that he holds an Academic degree,” said Ntaragwi.
