The Jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million dollars in punitive damages.

The Jury found both Amber and Depp liable for Defamation in their lawsuits against each other but apparently Depp was awarded more thus giving him a legal win against Amber.

John Christopher Depp is an American actor famously known as “Captain Jack Sparrow” in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Amber Heard is an American actress known for her roles in the films “Never back down” where she rose to fame in 2008 with roles in “Pineapple Express” and “Never Back Down.”

Depp sued Heard in Fairfax County in 2019 for Defamation over an op-ed published a few months before the Washington post. According to Heard, she did not mention Depp but wrote that she was “a public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Amber was found liable of the defamation charges and was really affected as  she kept her head down in the courtroom as the verdict was read; however, Depp was not present in court but released a statement saying, “the jury gave me my life back.”

“From the beginning, the goal of bringing this case to reveal the truth regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support for me, I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that,” said Depp.

Amber in her posts expressed her dissatisfaction as she wrote,

“The disappointment I Feel today is beyond words. I am heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power,” she continued “I am sad I lost this case..”

Amber was awarded by the Jury $2 million in compensatory damages but nothing in punitive damages.
