The young media personality was born and raised in one of the biggest slums in Nairobi County, Kawangware, in the Riruta area, where he says his career journey was not a bed of roses as his dad was against it being a Bishop.

“My dad was against what I was doing because of his reputation as a Bishop,” narrated Joe.

Mr Mbwembwe, after completion of his high school studies he joined the ST. John College to pursue a Diploma in Information and Technology but however dropped out as a survival tactic which he plans on going back to clear up his course.

The Str8 up presenter landed his spot on the Standard media group in October 2021 where he went against many talented gurus but his exuberant self gave him the lead against everyone else.

Joe was born with the recognition as ‘the bishop’s son’ which he says has been one of the toughest phases he has had to go through in the entertainment Industry keeping in mind the trolls he has received from people.

“I will be honest with you my dad prays for people and heals the sick, so a lot of people said that all the demons that my dad casts out of people came onto me,” continued Joe, “Which hurt my feelings so much but I became so tough and knew that I haven’t seen anything yet.”
