The Kenyan Gengetone artist Ssaru has opened up about why she insists that event organizers work with her terms rather than theirs.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with SPM BUZZ, she said that she prefers to do so because some organizers tend to take advantage of artists by walking away with their money. Adding to that, they work in coordination with brokers by lying to artists that their money isn’t out yet, but in reality, it is already out.
“Hao mabrokers ndio wanachafulia brands jina pesa ilitoka but hauambiwi. But mimi nimedhulumiwa mara kadhaa, and you learn from it.
Mimi, next time mtu akinifanyia mchezo kama hiyo akikuja namwambia, I am not doing this, and we are going to do this according to my terms.” Ssaru said.
She shared that her terms are always paying an upfront fee of 70% before the show starts and 30% before anything else, adding that the charges vary depending on the gig and location.
Ssaru was scammed 500,000 ksh, saying she learnt the hard way and will never go through it again.
Ssaru also said on why she always doesn’t diss her haters saying that she has a lot of things to do and working on a diss will just be a waste of her time hence she opts to let them speak. She lastly hinted that she plans to release a new album soon that she promised will be a banger and urged he fans to anticipate it as it will be one of a kind.
