Sonko requests former Citizen TV journalist to be transferred from Mathare Mental Hospital to Mombasa Rehab

Mike Sonko continues to be on the forefront supporting Kimani Mbugua who has been battling mental disorder after he was drugged a few years back.

According to Mike Sonko, the Citizen TV journalist’s case remains personal to him as he also has his own struggle with bipolar disorder that was passed down from his family.

“Boychild needs help” Obinna cries following huge number of youths admitted at Mathare Mental Hospital

Having a daughter with the same issue and is the same age as Kimani Mbugua – Mike Sonko continues to insist on getting the young man better help in order to avoid his talent and brightness going to waste.

Kimani Mbugua has already given a lot to the world through his work, and it is our time to give back hope, love, and care. We were highly impressed by the services of the entire hospital leadership; it is a very good hospital with qualified and professional healthcare workers. Mike Sonko said during recent visit to Kimani.

For this reason the former Nairobi Governor now says Kimani Mbugua should be moved from Mathare Mental hospital to Mombasa women rehabilitation centre.

Reason for transfer

According to Mike Sonko, the transfer and change of environment will help in the recovery of the patient.

This having witnessed a few patients including Conjestina Achieng recover sooner than he expected.

Therefore, even if we transfer them to Mombasa, it will only be for the purpose of changing the environment, which can also greatly contribute to the patient’s recovery, and that’s why I decided, together with the family, to transfer them to the Mombasa Women Rehabilitation Center where Conjestina Achieng is, to see if they will change for good. Said Sonko.
