Nairobi Governor, Johnson Sakaja has dispatched police officers to go and ensure the bars operating at residential areas are closed down.
He wrote on his twitter handle issuing a warning to those who are still running the pubs, saying,
“Last call. No Nightclubs in residential areas.”
On Friday, 25th of November, Sakaja addressed the issue of bars, and he made it clear that he had cancelled the licenses and ordered officers not to renew the permits for the scaled down facilities.
‘”Those already issued are hereby cancelled, Henceforth, Nightclub licenses will be issued to premises only within the Central Business District and specified streets in other non-residential areas,”
This comes out of complaints from people because of the noise pollution.
Reminded them that they stick to the rules they were given running within the stipulated time and also be aware of the people surrounding them.
He also said that the owners with the restaurants and pubs should provide sufficient parking for their clients so that there’s no obstruction along the roads.
