A number of Kenyan artists, led by Gospel Singer Rufftone, have laid down their proposals that they want taken into consideration by the Cabinet Secretary of Sports and Arts Ababu Namwamba.
Speaking at the Kenya National Theatre (KNT) among other artist, they said that they are facing challenges in the industry.
Eunice Lema was among the Congregation where she said that,
“Katika Industry tuko na challenge especially kwa wale watu ambao wamepewa jukumu la kutuongoza na kutokotea pesa zetu,”
she added that, the Media council of Kenya has failed over and over for not distributing money and that they have been ignorant of the Kenyan artists, she urged the Government to step in and help the artists or an alternative to be provided.
They said that, they are being robbed and that looting of funds is still on and want action done.
They urged the Kenyan Government to create 50,000 jobs for the unemployed youth, so that they are able to fend for themselves.
As well as bring in exposure or rather exploitation of the artists to international stakes so that they get experience and grow.
Zero Sufuri, Esther Wahome and Jemimah Thiongo were also among those in attendance, who also preached the same message.
