The President has finally bowed down to pressure to sign the IEBC Bill amid calls by a section of Kenyans to recall their MPs for voting in favour of the Finance Bill, 2024.
Ruto this morning has assented to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (Amendment) Bill on Tuesday morning.
Yesterday, he had invited opposition leaders and others to attend the historic event.
“As the first bill successfully processed by Parliament based on the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, President William Ruto invites leaders of parliamentary parties, both inside and outside Parliament, to join him for this historic event,” Ruto’s spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said.

Last week, Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka claimed that they are aware the Bill has been sitting on the President’s desk for days.
“As a Coalition, we call out Ruto and demand that he assents to this essential Bill that allows citizens to hold their representatives in the Legislature accountable,” he said.
Kalonzo has been among the strong opposition leaders who have greatly opposed the finance bill that most Kenyans were against.
