The Azimio coalition leader Raila Odinga has finally spoken before the press, defending the protestors who were exchanging with the security forces.
Speaking during an interview with BBC News on the Monday of 27th of March 2023 he said that the protestors were very much executing what is indicated in the constitution.
Clarifying the claims, saying that there is a difference between offensive violence and defensive violence. Something he said that the residents were forced to engage the fact that the police were sealing off the residents from making any movements, adding that the residents were only interested in getting out and now that they couldn’t, they decide to use a little bit of violence that he called defensive which is by throwing stones.
“The police went and basically sealed the residents….. and they are throwing tear gases at the people… therefore they came out to defend themselves they wanted to get out.”
Raila Odinga still remains intact with his motives which are fighting for the rights of the residents and has promised that he will not relent until they are heard.
The demonstrations will be happening two times a week, (Monday and Thursday) as he had said, and the song is still the same.
Despite the policemen and the security guards blocking the way for the protestors, the Azimio leader still was able to deliver the message to the world and now looks forward to what will happen next.
Their agenda hasn’t still changed as it remains to be the High cost of living to be reduced, the servers to be opened and the president to stop the reconstitution of the electoral commission.
