This was around 9 p.m. I called my midwife and explained what had happened. I did not actually know that my water broke because this was my first pregnancy, so I just told her that it was warm water and she advised me to go to the hospital and wait to see if any more water will come out, and it did and after reporting to her she asked me to wear and sanitary towel call my doctor.”
When she called her doctor, she was asked to immediately rush to the hospital as it could be premature rapture of the membrane, “He asked me how many weeks I was and I told him 34 that is when he told me to go to the hospital as it could be premature membrane rapture. I went into cramping but again I dint know it was labor as it was my first pregnancy. so I went to hospital The first they do of course is to check the baby’s heartbeat and when they did I noted they were struggling to find it and yet its usually loud.”
The nurse then told her she had to go in for an emergency ultrasound, but according to her she thought it was just an excuse for them to find the right words to break the news to her, “The nurse told me she was sorry but there is no fetal activity. it was the last thing I expected- carrying the pregnancy all that time and then suddenly you are told the baby is no more.”
I was taken back to the ward and I slept, the next day I had dilated to 6 centimeters. The doctor then told me they wanted to fasten the process for me they were going to induce me. I gave birth at around 2. There is nothing more painful than pushing a dead child. But I held her, they allowed me to hold her.”
She further added that while in the hospital, the cries of children were tormenting her and in her new initiative which she said she intends to launch for women who go through the same experience as her, she will lobby for wards far away from the ones that women with children for the sake of their mental well being.
