The Kenyan Ministry of Health has confirmed a case of Mpox at the Taita-Taveta one-stop border point, raising concerns about potential regional transmission. The infected individual was traveling from Uganda to Rwanda.
Mpox, a viral illness characterized by skin rashes, fever, and swollen lymph nodes, spreads through close contact with infected individuals. With Kenya’s strategic location and high population movement, the risk of the disease spreading within the country and the region is significant.
The Ministry has advised Kenyans to maintain high levels of hygiene, avoid close contact with individuals exhibiting symptoms, and seek medical attention if they experience any related symptoms.
