Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto has postponed reopening dates for all schools countrywide.
Speaking earlier today while addressing the country from the State House in Nairobi, Kenya, the President said that schools will remain closed until further notice.
“The Ministry of Education is directed to postpone the dates of the reopening of all schools in the country for the second term until further notice.
Shule zilikua zifunguliwe jumatatu sasa hazitafunguliwa. Wizara inaelewa na vile kutaendelea baada ya wiki ijayo,” President Ruto explained.

Why Schools Will Remain Closed Until Further Notice
According to Ruto, the postponement came about as a result of a warning from the meteorological department that the flooding situation is expected to worsen due to the continued rainfall.
“Meteorological reports paint a dire picture. The rains will persist, increasing both in duration and intensity for the rest of this month and possibly after,” he said.
Initially, schools were meant to be opened next week on Monday, but that will not be the case as the government has directed otherwise because of the unmerciful floods that are sweeping everything on their way.
