Why Teachers Were on Strike

Kuppet teachers held a nationwide strike in the streets, refusing to go back to school and teach despite Knut’s directive that had asked them to stand down.

The strike came in the wake of mounting frustration among educators over unresolved grievances that they claim TSC failed to address.

Some of these plea’s include a demand for better working conditions, promotions, and the harmonisation of allowances.

Teachers union KUPPET has refused to suspend their strike, which began on Monday, despite a Labour Court order on Tuesday to halt the action.

Union Secretary Akelo Misori stated on Wednesday that the strike will continue up until their demands are heard.

“The court talked about the intended strike yet the strike had already begun. TSC went to court on Tuesday when the strike had already begun so we cannot call it off on the basis of those orders,” Misori said.
