In a recent heartfelt interview, the police officer who tragically lost both of his forearms after a teargas canister exploded in his hands has finally broken his silence.

Speaking publicly for the first time since the devastating accident, the officer shared his emotional and physical recovery journey, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support from his family, colleagues, and the community at large.

He narrated how the Tear gas canister exploded on his hands, saying it was an accident that he never thought could happen.

“There was some resistance when I was trying to remove the pin, when it was about to get off… and then I was just about to throw my Grenade. I just saw darkness.

So this is something I actually don’t understand, is how it happened because I have always used it on training and I have never had such an experience. I can’t really explain; I am just referring to it as an accident.” The policeman revealed this through an interview with TV 47.

How the Police Officer ended up loosing his forearms

The police officer was attempting to disperse a hostile crowd that was demonstrating against the 2024 finance bill when the pin failed him making the tear gas canister explode in his arms. The explosion led to severe injuries, and thanks to his fellow policemen, he was rushed to the hospital, where he received treatment and is now recuperating better.

“I was bleeding a lot, and the doctors managed to act quick and help me by ensuring I had blood that I had lost, and were it not for them, things could have been different.”

The officer also acknowledged the mental and emotional toll of the experience, candidly discussing the challenges of adapting to life and the resilience it has taken to push forward.
