Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has explained why he dropped out of school.
Speaking in an interview with Betty Kyallo at TV 47, he said back then he never knew what he wanted in life, which is why he was never serious about his education, adding that his area had a sugar industry where they could go work and earn a few coins.
“I didn’t have a lot of things, which is why I was not serious with life and why I didn’t see the need for education. I was just a stubborn boy back then.
Because at home we have a sugar industry, we could go to work and get fast money, hence why we couldn’t see the need to go to school and work hard. It is because of these options that we had that I put school aside, took care of cows, and had fun with the easy money we were making.” Salasya explained.
The Mumias East MP who reinstated that he dropped out of school in class four said life was becoming unbearable because of his background and the things that he chose to venture into at a young age, which is why he could struggle with learning.
“Life ilikua ngumu because hata kuandika composition ilikua ngumu…wewe hujui kuandika, you could end up copying even the other writer’s name, which is why I dropped out.”
