Pato Banton Explains What Happened in Eldoret (VIDEO)

US-based reggae artist Pato Banton has addressed the Wednesday saga through a press briefing.

Speaking at Kibra to the press, he said that there was a small misunderstanding in Eldoret where the promoters, who were given the sound system and security for free, including the venue, by a certain company, decided to turn their word against them after realizing the person who was showing up and demanding to be paid.

“The promoter in Eldoret didn’t hire the sound system; the stage and the security in the venue were given to him for free, but he didn’t pay. So when it was time for the show, the stage and sound companies said, No, we are not doing the show until we get the money.”

Realizing that the team wasn’t willing to pay since they had been given it for free, the security team decided to take their keyboards for their payment. That’s when the drama erupted, and people started squaring off while some were trying to defend their property and others were trying to grab it off them.

Pato joyfully thanked the five girls who stood out and fought for the keyboards, which they finally won. Seeing what the ladies had done, Pato decided to stretch his gratitude by arranging a small private show for the girls.

He also revealed the reason why he decided to come to Kenya, saying that he chose to land here because of the million requests and love he got from people wanting him to visit the Country because of his viral song.

Pato Banton, born in London, England, who rose to fame in Kenya for his ‘Go Pato Song, said that he developed his love for microphones at the age of 10 and has always produced music and concentrated on helping other artists as well as doing charity to the less privileged.
