Former Tahidi High actor Omosh, who was acting as a janitor, has shared his depression journey after hinting to having quit alcohol.
Speaking in an interview with Nicholas Kioko, he said that alcohol had taken the best of him until he couldn’t even prioritize what matters in his well-being, ending up making costly decisions that only drained him mentally and financially.
He shared the effects that alcohol had on him, amongst them being that it made his memory relapse, he couldn’t even relate well with his wife back at home, and he lost his appetite.
“Mimi nilikua najipata nikishakunywa tei… Mimi ata home ni m violent, memory yangu hulapse…and then kitu moja unaloose apetite unakata weight so ilikua inaiaffect in all angles.”
(As for me, each time I could drink alcohol, even at home, I was a very violent person. It was so bad to a point that my memory would elapse, and then you end up losing appetite, and then you lose weight fast. (In other words, me consuming alcohol used to affect me from all angles.)
According to Omosh, alcohol destroyed his life, as he couldn’t even keep a job because it enslaved him from being addicted to it and prioritizing it above everything else.
“Nilikua slave wa tei…yaani singedo something asubuhi ngware…”
The effects of alcohol, as he shared, were adverse, and he couldn’t even function normally. Every little cent he could get, he could think of spending it all on alcohol.
He even hinted that he lost two friends to alcohol.
Omosh’s life took a turning point the moment he gave his life to Christ, hinting that he had tried quitting but failed. Thanks to the heavens, Omosh got born again and accepted Christ as his personal savior.
“Mimi niliokoka niligive my life to Jesus. Na saa hii mih hua na live hiyo life.”
Since then, Omosh has chosen to walk God’s path because there’s redemption in it, avoiding the bad company and morals that he initially had.
