“No Protests will be allowed in Nairobi CBD” Nairobi Police Commander Adamson Bungei says

Published on

Nairobi Police Commander Adamson Bungei has said that there will be no protests in the Nairobi CBD today ahead of the Finance Bill.

The police boss confirmed that no one applied for a gathering or picketing permit as expected.

This comes as activists led by Boniface Mwangi have already issued an elaborate plan for the protest dubbed ‘Occupy Parliament’ against the Finance Bill 2024.

Police have already been dispatched to the streets of Nairobi to ensure that protests and demonstrations don’t take place.

Kenyans are set to take to the streets in Nairobi on Tuesday to protest the proposed increase in taxes through the Finance Bill 2024.

Dubbed ‘Occupy Parliament’, which is trending on Twitter, the demonstrations are meant to pressure lawmakers against passing the bill, which the House will consider on Tuesday.

Several protesters have since been arrested for taking part in the demos, which police have since declared illegal.
