Kenya’s famous actor Maina Wilfred Olwenya was pronounced dead on Monday, July 4th in Nairobi hospital.
The main cause of his death is yet to be known, but it was reported that he collapsed.
However, his family has called for privacy and calmness against their loss adding that more information will be relayed after thorough investigations have been conducted.
Maina Olwenya who played as ‘Oti’ in Nairobi’s Half-Life is known to be a creative and voice-over artist in the Radio Africa group.
Apart from Nairobi Half-Life, the talented actor has also been seen in several Kenyan films among them, including Poacher and Taliya.
Kenyans, politicians, fans and his friends have all united to share some of their heartfelt condolences to Maina and the family at large.
Among them is the Kenya Kwanza presidential Aspirant William Ruto;
“I mourn with the family, friends and colleagues. We have lost a genuine talent, a dedicated creative and a good man. Like all great talents, Maina will leave on through his work. Safiri salam, “tweeted Ruto.
“I watched the Nairobi Half-life movie last year and he contributed a great role in the movie. He really taught me the real lifestyle in Nairobi. Thank you for everything. RIP brother,” commented Yaska Wonder.
Other actors and actresses in the film industry came in to eulogise the great Maina.
“You’ve been constantly on my mind since we started filming with the African director reminiscing what great talent you are. Why? My heart is so heavy. Go well bro, we shall meet again,” wrote Kate the Actress.
Media personality Maina Kageni, from Radio Africa group shared his message commending his great talent.
“We’ll miss you here at Radio Africa…among the very best voices in East Africa…great actor, superb talent!!! Recalling your outstanding role in the movie Nairobik Half-life…What a game-changer you were, big boss!!! Thanks for everything,” shared Mr. Kageni.
