Kenyan police have made a significant breakthrough in the gruesome case of multiple murders in the Kware area of Mukuru slums. A suspect was apprehended Monday morning in Kayole, a neighboring suburb, where he was allegedly planning another attack.

The Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, is scheduled to address the media later today to provide further details on the arrest and the ongoing investigation.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, who resides near the Kware dumpsite where the bodies were found, has confessed to the killings. Police describe him as a psychopath. Evidence recovered from his residence includes multiple mobile phones, identity cards, SIM cards, a machete, gloves, and sacks similar to those used to conceal the victims’ bodies.

The victims, primarily young women, were found dismembered and dumped at the Kware site. Police have identified two of the victims so far, with Josephine Owino being the first. Her sister reported her missing on June 26 after receiving a call from a man claiming to be with her.

Authorities are exploring several theories about the motive behind the killings, including the possibility of a cult, a serial killer, or a rogue medical practitioner.

The arrest comes as a relief to the community and the nation at large, which has been gripped by fear and shock over the horrific murders.
