Veteran Nollywood actor and comedian John Okafor, known to fans as Mr Ibu, will be laid to rest tomorrow, June 28th, after a three-month battle with illness.
A night of tribute was held on Wednesday in Enugu state, where his wife shared the struggles they faced during his treatment. She spoke openly about the emotional toll it took, and the heartbreak of seeking further care abroad that ultimately wasn’t available. Many hospitals abroad declined the request of treating him.

Today, a Christian service will be held at Mr Ibu’s residence in Eziokwe Amuri, Nigeria. The following day, his funeral will take place, allowing fans and loved ones to pay their respects. A thanksgiving ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 30th, for the family.
Born John Ikechukwu Okafor on October 17, 1961, Mr Ibu’s comedic talents brought laughter to audiences across Nigeria and beyond. His legacy will live on through the countless films he appeared in.
