Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has secured Conjestina a job, just as he had promised to do so earlier.
Speaking through his social media page, he said that it was in his dreams to see the former boxer secure a job and inspire the young, upcoming generation that looks up to her.
“As Conje embarks on this new chapter of her life, she carries with her her hopes and dreams of young upcoming boxers. Her story serves as a reminder that everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves, regardless of their past or present circumstances.
My initial plan for Conje after healing was to employ her as the Head of Security Operations at the international club volume, but I changed my mind after thinking through what she has gone through before with drug and substance abuse.
According to Mike Sonko, what Conjestina had gone through made him think otherwise about employing her in a club, as she had been involved in it before and him putting her there would just add more trauma to what she already has; hence, he made it clear that he would place her somewhere where she would be comfortable.
“I don’t want her around any environment associated with drugs.”
He went on to explain that Conjestina would be a gym instructor at Salama Bling Beach Resort, along with her sister and coach.
“Conje will be a gym instructor and head of security at Salam Bling Beach Resort, Kanamai. Together with her sister, coach, and son, we inspected the hotel that she’ll be working at, and they all agreed.”
He then concluded, saying that Conjestina will be able to raise a few coins that will enable her to support her family, but emphasized that she will not be going back to Siaya County, and if at all she has to, she will be escorted and be under supervision.
