Manzi Wa Kibera shares reason why artists should not entrust managers to run their accounts

Published on

Kenyan socialite Manzi Wa Kibera has shared reasons why she thinks artists should not entirely trust managers to run their accounts.

Speaking with our very own journalist, Shiko Gitau, she openly confessed how her manager is giving her a hard time by defaming her through creating fake accounts using her name just because they disagreed.

Huyu manager wangu amecreate fake accounts zinajiita jina yangu ya zamani ako hadi telegram with 2,000 subscribers leo ndio amedelete pictures uzuri niliscreen record niko na kila kitu na nataka nimshtaki with that account as cyber bullying kwa police station, I swear to God.

Ameamka akadelete, but I have everything here on my iPhone 12, and I am going to stop that behavior. Vile yeye hufanyia madem
.”

Sharing compelling reasons why artists should maintain control over their own accounts rather than delegating this crucial task to their managers, Manzi Wa Kibera reminded artists to ensure they don’t entrust their managers with their personal accounts because at some point in life, when they fall out, they might use those accounts to ruin their reputation.

One of the primary arguments is the importance of authenticity. Social media is a powerful tool for artists to connect personally with their fans, and trusting managers with this might not be a good idea because if they are ruining your reputation, then it is even going to be hard for brands to approach you as an artist.

Mimi kenye ningependa kuambia hawa madem, just use your brains in case umeenda kusaidiwa kupata brand, make sure brand yako haijtusiwa in any way.

Shikilia account zako na mikono zako because akisema anakufungulia account, hizo account ndio atatumianga kukubring down
.”

Manzi Wa Kibera’s perspective sheds light on the significant benefits of artists managing their own social media accounts. As much as managers play an essential role in an artist’s career, the direct and personal nature of social media makes it a unique platform that should remain in the hands of the artists themselves.
