Manchester United secured a bittersweet victory over Brighton on the final day of the Premier League season. Despite a 2-0 win, the Red Devils finished a dismal 8th, their lowest ever placing in the top-flight.
The season was marred by a negative goal difference, the worst in 34 years, and a disappointing 14 losses. This has fueled speculation about manager Erik ten Hag’s future, with reports suggesting a potential summer exit.

Ten Hag acknowledged the team’s shortcomings, stating, “Eighth is the worst performance. It is not good enough by far.” However, he remains focused on ending the season on a high note.
“Hopefully we will have a good week and everyone is on board,” he said, looking towards next week’s FA Cup final against Manchester City. “We will put a competitive team out and we will fight for the [FA] Cup.”
United’s win against Brighton came despite being outplayed by the Seagulls. Ten Hag will have his work cut out for him as they seek to upset Pep Guardiola’s City at Wembley. The FA Cup final offers a chance for some redemption, but the club’s overall performance casts a long shadow.
