Although Safaricom has distanced itself from claims to have provided information leading to the abduction of several vocal GenZ protestors and slowing down the internet, Kenyans on social media refuse to be ‘lied’ to.

As seen online, Peter Ndengwa who is the Safaricom’s CEO denied having any involvement with the abductions – claiming it adheres to the rules and regulations of protecting it’s customers privacy.

Safaricom does not disclose customer information or their location. We adhere to the laws of the land in terms of data privacy. He said in his long detailed video shared online.

However despite it’s effort to deny having helped the govt, Kenyans online have threatened to boycott the telecommunication company citing betrayal.

Influencers boycott Safaricom

So far we have had several influencers distancing themselves from Safaricom in support of ongoing rejectfinancebill2024.

Among them is X bigwig Kimanzi who wrote;

Dennis Ombachi through his twitter account wrote; Twitter is finally back @LarryMadowo the North will remember. As for the green army on Waiyaki way, I won’t be working with you as you’re values and mine are not aligned.
