The Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning to Kenyans who have yet to collect their passports. All outstanding passports must be picked up within the next six months, or they will be disposed of.
The Directorate of Immigration (DIS) explained that the decision is necessary to free up storage space for newly processed documents. The move is in compliance with the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act and international regulations governing passport delivery.
To streamline the passport collection process, the DIS has temporarily suspended the appointment booking requirement. Kenyans can now collect their passports without prior scheduling.
To check the status of their passport applications, individuals can send an SMS with their eCitizen tracking number. Additionally, the government has established dedicated Migrant Labour counters nationwide to expedite passport processing for those seeking employment abroad.
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to improving passport services and urged Kenyans to cooperate by promptly collecting their documents.
