Kenyan rapper and entrepreneur King Kaka, real name Kennedy Ombima, has unveiled the hefty price tag of his recently launched crime series “Monkey Business.” In a recent interview after the launch of his project, King Kaka revealed an investment of at least Sh6 million (approximately $53,000 USD) into the project.

Casting for the series began in December 2023, with filming commencing in January 2024. King Kaka humorously noted, “

We’ve spent at least Sh6 million so far, but the math on the premiere’s earnings is still in progress.”

“Monkey Business” boasts a large crew, with King Kaka confirming the involvement of over 162 individuals.

“The minimum crew size was around 40 people, but some scenes in episode three required a whopping 162!” he explained.

Excitement surrounding the Kenyan film industry was evident at the “Monkey Business” premiere. King Kaka expressed his delight, stating, “This is my second film, and the reception has been incredible! Apparently, some people couldn’t even get seats. It shows the enthusiasm for Kenyan cinema.”

The Kaka Empire CEO extended his gratitude to everyone who supported the premiere. He lightheartedly observed, “Seeing so many Kenyans dressed up was a joy. Tailors must be having a great week, along with the decorators and even those who printed our posters!”

King Kaka also shed light on Scar Mkadinali’s casting process.

“Scar’s a close friend and a film enthusiast,” he shared. “I noticed his presence in music videos and suggested acting lessons. He excelled!”
