KILIFI’S BENEATH THE BAOBABS FESTIVAL RELEASES ITS 60+ LINE-UP FOR THIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL

The yearly New Year’s festival, Beneath the Baobabs released a press release and revealed 50 artists have been added to the lineup for this year.

According to the press release, the lineup will feature known and fresh artists from Kenya, East Africa and the world’s music scene, “As ever, the 2022/23 Festival line-up brings together respected names of the Kenyan Electronic Music Scene, some of the freshest acts changing the game in East Africa and globally, as well as a slew of International Acts excited to engage with the vibrant crowd of Kilifi.”

They also stated on their website that it would now be a 2 day and 2 night festival, “As of 2022, Beneath The Baobabs Festival (formerly known as Kilifi New Year Festival) has proudly evolved into a 2 day, 2 night Kenyan Destination Festival, uniting the rising counter culture movement of East Africa for a celebration like no other!”

The lineup includes, Melé / Saint Evo / Idd Aziz & Jack Rooster, Mikel the energy presents Cheza Roho, Air Conditioner Live, Allan Strange, Ally Fresh, Andy Lemay, Annitrax, Bakhita, Basthma, BBYY, Blocka Beats, Bush of Ghosts, Clarkie, Daudi Dubs, DJ IV, DJ Paps, DJ Pyjama, , Lee .M., Lemi  Liam B, Mariiza, Masta Luminary Live, Maya Amolo, [MONRHEA], Mr Bado, MR.LU*, Nabalyo, Orly Maya & Olly Barnett, Rabudi Beng, Rathod, Wendy Kay, Zellan & Megabit, Zippie Nyumu among others.

The festival boasts of its part in being a platform for new sounds emerging on the dance floors of East Africa which saw the rise and introduction of the now widely known and loved sounds of Gengetone and Amapiano and it in that spirit The Ochungulo Family will be on it too as well as Nairobi Hip Hop Stars Kahush and Blocka Beats too to give it the Kenyan touch.

Beneath the Baobabs Festival takes place at the heart of Kilifi baobab forest, nestled amidst a plateau 30m above the source of the Takaungu Creek where thousands gather to usher in a new year and as they describe it, “The tropical setting is amplified by viewing decks 30ms above the forest floor, with a plethora of huge Baobab, Tamarind and Neem trees keeping the grounds shaded and relaxing: the ideal way to combine adventure and travel with the very best music you can find,” and the tickets sale is still ongoing.
