Kenyan digital creator and businessman Khalif Kairo, together with Member of Parliament Millicent Omanga, have defended the newly nominated cabinet secretary who will be in charge of defense, a role that was initially held by Aden Duale.
Khalif Kairo, through his social media page, defended Soipan, saying she is an educated individual as well as a leader who has been in power and therefore should not be overlooked whatever based on her status as a woman.
“I took time to read Soipan’s story, Kwa Nation. This woman defended her parlimentary twice in a span of 10 years. Before that, she was a lawyer, her mom was a councilor, and her dad was an MP. Lakini ju, we are a society of judging and undermining. Leo mnamtukana jua me over achieve.” Part of Khalif Kairo’s statement read:
He goes on rebuking the Kenyan society mentality of always looking down upon ladies, even when they have worked so hard to earn what they have, saying it is the very reason why many people remain average because they don’t believe ladies can make an honest living and be around good things despite their age status.
Millcent Omanga, on the other hand, condemned the ungracious act by some of the envious public who were attacking Soipan, insisting that they should rather channel their efforts and focus on her track record and capacity to deceive rather than having misguided priorities.
“Soipn Tuya doesn’t deserve the misogynistic and sexualized vitriolic attacks on her character. The focus ought to be on her competence, track record, and capacity to deliver on the position she has been appointed to, not her private life.” Millcent Omanga wrote on her page.

Aden Duale’s Reaction
In a surprise announcement to Parliament on Tuesday afternoon, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula revealed that Hon. Aden Duale had been re-assigned from the Defense Ministry to the Environment Ministry, whereas Soipan Tuya was given the ministry of defense.
Duale took the change positively and decided to thank the President for once again trusting him and assigning him the CS role.
“I am grateful to President @WilliamsRuto for reassigning me from the Defense Ministry to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry. I look forward to serving in my new portfolio and ensuring focus is on sustainable environmental management, combating climate change, and promoting reforestation and conservation efforts,” reads the post.
