Kenyans seek for thorough investigations as one citizen is killed in occupy parliament protests

Published on

Kenyans across the country, particularly in Nairobi’s central business district (CBD), took to the streets on Thursday to protest the controversial Finance Bill 2024.

The bill, recently approved in parliament despite widespread opposition, sparked public anger. Protests began early with demonstrators expressing their dissatisfaction through placards, chants, and bonfires.

Clashes erupted as tensions escalated between protesters and police throughout the day. Despite a heavy police presence, demonstrators remained resolute until late evening.

Social media erupted with reports of a protester, allegedly named Rex, being shot and killed by police around 8:05 PM. This information remains unconfirmed by authorities.

The alleged shooting triggered outrage online. Users condemned the police and government, demanding justice and accountability. Platforms were flooded with videos and eyewitness accounts depicting the chaotic scenes and tense atmosphere in the CBD.
