Kate Actress Apologizes After Boycott Threats on Endorsed Brands

Kenyan award-winning actor Catherine Kamau, best known as Kate Actress, has issued a heartfelt apology following threats from Kenyans to boycott the brands she represents and cancel her endorsements.

While Kenyans express their discontent online and through protests against the 2024 Finance Bill, Kate Actress has apologized for her recent remarks.

The mother of two was criticized by her fans and the public, with accusations of insensitivity and ‘fence-sitting’ during a crucial time for many Kenyans.

Kate Kamau Faces Criticism and Clarifies Stance on Finance Bill

Kate Kamau was among several celebrities who were criticized by Kenyans for not clearly taking a stance on the Finance Bill.

She further clarified that her invitation had been extended by the US embassy, and moreover, the entire trip had been self-funded.

Kate took to her Instagram and shared several posters from the protest movement. She reaffirmed her stance, stating,

 “My stand had been and still was #RejectFinanceBill.”

She made this declaration to show support for the protesters and to make it clear that she cared, not to appear indifferent.

Kate Kamau’s apology

Kate Kamau issued an apology to her fans and the public, acknowledging the backlash she had faced for her initial response to the criticism.

“I want to sincerely apologize for the insensitive comment I made on my Instagram page. After much reflection, I realize that it was a reflex response to the false allegations about my recent trip to the US being government-sponsored.

“I reiterate that it wasn’t. However, I acknowledge that I should have responded in a more respectful way. I remain committed to using my platform to advocate for all our fundamental rights as a people, and will continue to voice my support for the betterment of our country.” Kate wrote.

Kenyan actor Jackie Matubia, a friend of Kate, took to her social media to defend her, stating that she had clearly written that the US Embassy invited her and she was self-sponsored.

“Guys @kate_actress said government haina pesa ya kumsponsor…she wrote in black and white the US embassy invited her and self-sponsored herself …Honestly Wakenya …”

Public Backlash Over Kate Actress’ State House Visit.

Kate Kamau’s participation in President William Ruto’s state visit to the US in May added to the controversy surrounding her.

she was among those who attended the tour at Tyler Perry Studios in honor of the President’s visit.

Reports came out that the trip, involving at least 30 people, had cost Kenyan taxpayers around Sh250 million in travel expenses alone, leading to public outrage.

In response to these allegations, it was clarified by Kate that her trip had not been funded by the Kenyan government.

“Your thinking is so limited. Some of us don’t need government money to thrive. This trip is completely self-funded. This is me investing in my brand and taking care of my business. Get it?

She further clarified that her invitation had been extended by the US embassy, and moreover, the entire trip had been self-funded.

“My invitation was courtesy of the US Embassy in Nairobi and this trip is completely self-funded, just in case you thought my brand was beans. Breathe, my beloved, I have only just begun”. Kate wrote.
