Kenyan Gospel artist Kambua has shared with the public on how she was battling postpartum depression immediately after giving birth to her son.
Speaking through her social media page on Instagram she asked the public to share up their birth struggles if they have ever faced any, saying that hers was gross and she almost lost control on herself.
She opened up saying that when she gave birth to her son she wasn’t able to breastfeed him because her breast feeding milk was not coming yet. Despite being in that situation that was so heartbreaking as she describes it, she was able to receive support from her village sisters who again she said pushed her to the limit.
“I experienced baby blues when I had Nathaniel. It was compounded by constant “Maziwa haijka kuja?.
My milk took a while to come in. To say I was stressed would be a gross understatement.i got help from my village of sisters. Nurses mean well, but they just about pushed me over the edge at that time.”
For Starters, Postpartum depression is basically a complication of giving birth it can happen a week before birth as well as during birth. It can as well extend on for sometime on after birth if not well treated, the symptoms are very severe including: lose of appetite, loosing hope, crying a lot, lack of interest in things you used to embrace as well as lack of sleep among many other symptoms.
Despite Kambua undergoing such a tragic scenario, she was able to pull through thanks to her good, able and willing neighbours that came through for her even though it wasn’t easy she pulled it through and finally she was able to breastfeed her son.
