Kenya Airport Authority has assured the public that the situation that happened abruptly at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport has been handled.
Speaking through the social media platforms, they explained that whatever happened at the JKIA airport was a test that they organized themselves and nobody was harmed in the process.
“Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) would like to announce the successful completion of a full-scale emergency drill conducted at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) this morning.
The exercise, which involved a simulated incident of an aircraft that crashed at the airport while overflying Nairobi, was organized by KAA as part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing airport emergency response capabilities and ensuring the highest level of preparedness in case of any unforeseen events.”
They went on, adding that the test was done so that they can see how fast they are when it comes to attending to emergency services. In other words, it’s kind of preparing them for such emergencies, that’s if at all they are expected to step up.
“The primary objective of this exercise was to test and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the airport’s emergency response procedures, coordination among various agencies, and the overall readiness of the airport’s personnel.
KAA would like to assure the public that this incident was entirely simulated and did not pose any real danger to passengers, crew members, or airport operations. The safety and security of all individuals involved were strictly prioritized throughout the exercise.”
Their Managing director, Mr Alex Gitari, commended the efforts of the team and lite rated on the matter that everything done was just t ensure that the safety of passengers is prioritized.
He stated, “Safety is our utmost priority at Kenya Airports Authority, and conducting regular emergency drills is a crucial aspect of our commitment to ensuring the highest level of preparedness. I commend the efforts of all the personnel involved in this exercise for their professionalism and dedication.”
