Recently, president William Ruto left tongues wagging after his decision of firing over 20 Cabinet Secretaries.
While it seemed impossible, the president contemplated heavily about it and deciced to do it anyway.
Some of the cabinet secretaries were fast gaining popularity for their opulence and their deluxe lifestyle.
One of them was transport CS Kipuchumba Murkomen, who recently claimed that he wears a hand watch worth Ksh 900K.
”Most expensive shoe might be 70 to 80,000. Belt, 40 to 50,000. But I don’t need to wear two belts in two years. One belt is enough. The watch which I bought with my own money was almost like 900,000,” he stated.
Kipchumba Murkomen was appointed Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Roads and Transport on 27 September 2022 by William Samoei Ruto, after a change of administration following the 2022 General Election victory for the United Democratic Movement (UDA).
Prior to his appointment to Cabinet, Murkomen served as Senator for Elgeyo Marakwet for a short stint, having been re-elected for a third consecutive term in
the 9 August 2022 elections on a UDA party ticket. H.E. President Ruto’s Executive Order No 1 of 2022 outlining the structure of his Government, published on 12
October 2022, placed two State Departments within the purview of Hon. Murkomen – that of Roads and Transport, bestowing upon him the responsibility of overseeing institutional, structural, infrastructural, legal, policy, and regulatory reforms in the two critical sectors.

Jimal & Kairo for CS?
With the latter being said, flamboyant businessman Jimal Roho Safi has rooted for his fellow businessman Kairo to run for the seat that was left by Kipchumba Murkomen.
”Khalif Kairo, either mimi ama wewe moja wetu lazima CS transport before baba aseme apewe ministry 6 sisi tunataka 10 ministry (Gen Z),” Jimal wrote.
Jimal further requested the Gen Z’s to suggest names of those people they believe would be a good fit for the minister’s position.
”Kindly post in your page the Gen Z wale munawataka kwa viti za ministers”
The Gen Z’s have had a huge impact in changing the government. And for this, they have been hailed as heroes who were underdogs in pushing for reforms.
