Former Kenyan President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta has dared the Kenya Kwanza Government and its associates to face him if they think he is a problem.
Speaking to the press, the former President expressed his disappointment in the current government, saying that they have no right whatsoever to threaten his family and should keep off his family.
The Former President said that he received a call from his son, who told him that he had been approached by DCI officials wanting to question him about his Sudanese registrations.
“I heard a report from my son. He had come home as he was leaving. The watchmen at the gate told him that there were people claiming to be DCI officers in a vehicle with Sudanese Registration and claiming that they wanted to speak to and see him.”
He went on saying that it is in his understanding, having been the president of Kenya, that police aren’t supposed to come in foreign clothes and should always have a search warrant whenever they want to visit one’s place, something that the individuals in question lacked.
Asked if the situation, or rather the turn of events, is being influenced by the ongoing protests, he responded, saying that he also doesn’t understand why the Kenya Kwanza Government is doing things differently by withdrawing his mother’s security team that has been guarding him for over 50 years now, as well as his family receiving unnecessarily confrontations, including his son.
“I have people who have been guarding my mother for the last 50 years being withdrawn at night. I have now a situation where my son’s home is being raided for things that I don’t understand. So, I ask myself, what does this Government want?”
He then dared the Kenya Kwanza Government to come for him if they were interested in him and leave his family alone because they even have intel on where he always is.
Concluded by saying that they shouldn’t mistake his silence as a sign of weakness. And urged the public, including the press, to consider advocating for democracy.
