The late veteran news anchor Catherine Kasavavuli’s son, Martin Kasavuli divulged what his relationship with his mother was like.
Speaking during Catherine Kasavuli’s requiem mass held at the Friends’ International Centre, Ngong Rd, he said their relationship was tight, “My mum and I had a tight bond since I was born. Even when she was struggling to educate me we always had laughter.” Adding that he was his mom’s bodyguard, “Growing up I was always my mum’s bodyguard.”
Moreover, he disclosed that it was Catherine’s wish for him to pursue journalism, “one of the things she always wanted me to do was to go to TV and broadcast. It was her way of saying you will do what I want.”
On why he didnot pursue it, “The reason I did not want to join TV was that the shoes were too big to fill.”
