G Money’s Journey
Interestingly, G Money’s journey with Homeboyz Radio wasn’t initially planned as an on-air role. He arrived in Kenya intending to help DJ John set up the station after their encounter in London. “[Quote about meeting DJ John and Homeboyz Radio startup] Life, however, had other plans,” G Money revealed on a recent episode of the Banter Box podcast.
He transitioned from setup consultant to presenter, becoming a powerhouse figure not only at the station but also in Kenya’s dancehall scene. G Money’s final show at Homeboyz Radio will air on June 20th.
Reflecting on his long tenure, G Money acknowledged it’s time for a change. “That’s 6,066 days on Homeboyz Radio, and 16 years doing the morning show,” he shared. “The station needs to adapt to the current media landscape, and it’s a good time for them to reinvest in talent and bring in fresh energy. It’s also my time to reflect on a 30-year radio career that started with a kid’s dream.”
Expressing his gratitude for the incredible journey, G Money said, “Radio has always been my passion. I’ve been fortunate enough to live this dream not just in Kenya, but in places like Jamaica, America, the Netherlands, Trinidad, Ghana, and Uganda. This has been an amazing ride.”
G-money is yet to announce his next move.
