Siaya High Court Judge Daniel Ogembo was found dead at his home in Siaya town on Wednesday, July 17.
Justice Ogembo’s body was discovered by his driver when he went to pick him up for work in the morning.
According to his driver, the judge mentioned on Tuesday afternoon that he was not feeling well, despite maintaining his work schedule.
The driver tried calling Justice Ogembo to pick him up, but there was no answer. Worried, he went to check on him and found the door locked from the inside.
After he returned, he alerted the judicial staff, who arrived with security personnel. They then broke down the door and discovered his lifeless body lying on the bed.

The governor recognized Justice Ogembo for his remarkable ability to listen carefully, reflect quietly, and then interject with a few words that brought clarity to the courtroom.
“Justice Ogembo had a marvelous ability to listen intently, reflect quietly, and then interject, usually with a few brief words that brought clarity to the courtroom. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he mourned.
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo also confirmed the passing of Justice Ogembo, mentioning that the body has been transferred to a funeral home in Kisumu for preservation and autopsy.
Ogembo’s death marked the third in quick succession to affect the judiciary, following the passing of Justice David Majanja and Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti.
Justice Ogembo’s appointment to the Judicial Service.
Justice Daniel Ogembo, whose career in the judiciary spanned over a decade, began his journey as a magistrate in 2004.
His dedication and legal acumen led to his appointment as a Judge of the High Court in 2016. Throughout his tenure, he served at various high courts, including Eldoret, Milimani, and Siaya.
In Siaya, he took on the role of presiding judge, succeeding Lady Justice Roseline Aburili, and served in this capacity for nearly two years.
