Governor Sakaja Emphasizes New Walkways Are Only for Pedestrians, Not for Hawking

Governor Johnson Sakaja has made it clear that the newly constructed walkways around Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) are strictly for pedestrians and must not allow hawking. His comments came after a recent inspection of the ongoing improvement works on key roads within the city center.

While interacting with the public during the inspection, Governor Sakaja noted that many Nairobi residents had shared positive feedback about the improvements. These upgrades aim to enhance pedestrian mobility and safety, ensuring that people walking around the CBD enjoy a better experience.

In his statement, Sakaja emphasized that the walkways are for pedestrians and hawkers should not encroach on them. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of keeping these walkways clear to support the city’s development and safety.

“The new walkways are strictly for pedestrians and not for hawking,” Sakaja declared, urging the public to respect the purpose of these paths. He also reassured the residents that the ongoing developments will significantly improve the flow of foot traffic in the city.

With construction still ongoing, Sakaja called for patience as Nairobi continues to transform its road infrastructure for the benefit of pedestrians.
