Under mounting pressure, Butita released a statement on social media on June 23rd. He acknowledged the criticism and expressed his understanding of Kenyans’ frustration with the government.
Butita admitted he usually avoids political issues, but recognized the importance of speaking out in this case. He emphasized the need for better ways for citizens to be heard by their leaders.
