CNN reporter Larry Madowo is set to cover the expected protests in the city’s capital. The protests are set to take place today as most netizens oppose the finance bill.
Celebrities also showed up to the streets on Tuesday to protest against the bill.
Gen Z to the rescue
The ironical thing that stood out in all these protests was the fact that young people showed up in large numbers (Gen Zs) to protest.
For this reason, the Gen Z have been hailed as unexpected heroes. They have been recognized by renowned celebrities such as Larry Madowo; who commended them for their fearless stance.
He said, “I stand fearless Kenyan Gen Z baddies fighting for their freedoms online and offline. Your courage and conviction are inspiring. It’s giving revolution. We are led.”
For this reason, Larry went ahead to book a flight and make arrangements on meeting up with the Gen Z’s in the protests. He took to his social media and wrote;
“Flying back to Nairobi – for 1 day only to cover tomorrow’s protests.”
The finance bill has roped in numerous celebrities’ opinions. Some have remained neutral while others have supported the bill.
For those supporting it like KRG & Andrew Kibe, netizens have heavily criticized them. They have unfollowed some of them on social media. The fate of the bill is expected to be known in the course of the week.
