Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on Uhuru to consider negotiating with the Kenya Revenue Authority.
The Deputy has emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza Government will not exempt anyone from not taking part in this democratic exercise.
While addressing a gathering yesterday during the senator’s retreat, he pointed out to the former president to consider coming up with a repayment plan to the KRA Authorities.
Understanding that there are those bearing huge figures of the KRA taxes, and so encouraging them to sit with the KRA Authorities and Negotiate a repayment plan.
“Let those who have not been paying tax not get nervous. We are open to discussion on how you can pay in bits.”
He also said that they can be paying in bits every month.
“You can pay 1 billion every month until the balance is cleared. It’s very simple, everybody must pay tax.”
Lastly, he said that those of whom who don’t think they can pay should file an application to the public and tell the Citizens why they are not doing so, as this is a mandatory exercise for everyone.
Failing to pay taxes attracts a huge fine and interests of up to 25% of the tax you are supposed to pay. It may even result to jail term if it does get serious.
