“Football is Very Beautiful But Cruel” ~ Paul Pogba Shares his Football Journey

French footballer Paul Pogba has shared his journey since he joined soccer.

He said that football is competitive and doesn’t end, as you’ll always want to prove yourself even after you’ve achieved a lot.

“Football is very beautiful, but it’s cruel. People can forget you the next day. You can do something great, but the next day you are a nobody. People can be waiting for you. He’s done; his career is finished.”

He said that it is so heartbreaking that a player gives his all but, at the end of the day, doesn’t get credit out of it as people still expect more and more, hence the reason why Messi and Ronaldo are still in the game even after accomplishing so much more. To him, that explains the reason why football is competitive.

Pogba also highlighted the challenges he undergoes as a player, which is their skin color. When they fail to win, they are looked at and criticized by being called names, but when they win, nobody is asked anything or criticized, which tells you something.

He hinted that the blacks are really going through a lot in the soccer team because they end up doing more than their white colleagues so that they are not benched.

“I mean, in France, it is hard, but we have to work twice as hard as the white guy in my position… I have to be like two times better than him to play, and this is unfair.

If you’re the best, you deserve to play; there’s no color or stuff like that, but unfortunately, in reality, that’s not what’s happening.”

The Juventus midfielder said that what has always driven him is the fact that he always rises up and believes that nothing negative can bring him down. Working that hard makes him prove his haters wrong, and seeing his family reminds him of how much of a warrior and competitor he is, so he cruises along.

The father of three also addressed the challenges that black people face, which include not getting picked for jobs because of how they look, a serious matter that he said should be looked into as they are missing out on a lot of opportunities that they rightfully deserve.
