Eric Omondi plans symbolic march to State House, demands government reform

Published on

Kenyan comedian and activist Eric Omondi is making headlines with a bold plan to visit State House this Thursday. Known for his outspoken advocacy for Kenyan youth, Omondi is demanding a government shakeup.

A Call for Action

In a unique video message, Omondi, dressed in white and holding a Kenyan flag, delivered a passionate plea to President William Ruto. He urged the President to take immediate steps to rebuild public trust in the government, including the dismissal of Cabinet Secretaries, Permanent Secretaries, and heads of state-owned corporations.

A Peaceful March

Omondi announced a peaceful march to State House on Thursday at 11 am. He emphasized that this is an opportunity for direct dialogue, away from the noise of social media. His delegation will comprise 100 women, 100 young people, and 100 men, all dressed in white, symbolizing unity and peace. He specifically requested the police to maintain a non-violent approach, underlining the importance of a constructive conversation.

Building Bridges

This move follows a recent Gen Z-organized memorial service honoring fallen comrades who lost their lives during recent protests. It also comes on the heels of President Ruto’s attempt to connect with young Kenyans. Omondi has consistently championed youth rights, notably participating in demonstrations against the Finance Bill.

A Catalyst for Change?

Omondi’s initiative has sparked nationwide conversation. Will this symbolic march pave the way for meaningful dialogue between the government and its youth? Only time will tell.
