English Premier League footballer Raheem Sterling, who used to play for Chelsea Football Club recently before moving to Arsenal as of now, has openly admitted why he decided to be baptized.
The footballer marked the personal milestone in the presence of family and friends and still openly revealed what made him do so, Sterling who was addressing a gathering at a Jamaican-themed church, said his career might have made him take a different, ungodly path because of the many temptations that come with being popular and a talented player.
His pursuit of football led him to environments and situations that didn’t align with his beliefs, and he came to the decision of wanting to change the narrative and give his soul to Christ.
“I just want to testify that the reason I want to be baptized is because, from a young age, I always had a dream to get my mom and family out of a certain predicament, and I always chased that dream for a longer line, like anything you crave for it—an ego chasing what I believe is what I wanted.
As I was growing up, I could see that now that I was chasing my ego, something that was not for me, I was going to certain places, doing something that I had come to the realization that this is not what I want in my life; this is not who I truly am.” The English footballer Sterling said.
Through a video shared online, Sterling is seen being baptized truly living to his word.
