Kenyan Comedian Kevin Omwami, commonly known as ‘Dr Babu’ has disclosed how he was able to land a role in a Nurse Toto Series.

Speaking to our very own Liz Jackson of SPM BUZZ, he said that having worked with Butita before on Ma Ex series, it was easier for him to be selected.

Adding that he had gone to visit Butita when they both realized that he could fit a role in relation to the context on what the story was about.

He praised Eddie Butita who was the Scriptwriter saying that even when it came to handing them the lines and acting he would give them freedom of expression as he would let them bring the best out of themselves without telling them what to do.

“Nilipokua napata Script…… Butita ameiandika manake pia ananijua kutoka kitambo….

Alikua anachukua vile vipengele vidogo ananipokeza kama points……Ndivo ananipokeza uhuru wa mshairi naeza nikaongeza ama nikapunguza.”

Disclosed that it was easy to work with the cast because they were people they had worked together with before, making it easier for them to blend in easily and have that teamwork.

Babu was given a role as the cleaner of the facility one hospital and also a traditional healer who believed in traditional medicine, so he would always approach sick patients who were coming over for treatment and recommend them his herbs, persuading them they are better off than the modern ones.

Asked how he was able to master Swahili and use it in a Nurse Toto, he said that ever since he was in High School he used to take part in events that were related to speaking in Swahili especially in debates and as time went by he went on loving and prioritizing it.

Dr. Babu AKA Omwami has also worked in Churchill Show where he used to do a stand-up comedy as well, he’s well known for his lines and even shaking his back something that had his fans up their seats.

He also shared that A nurse Toto will be renewed for the second season, as fans should be prepared for more excitement.

He gave his handles and disclosed to have opened a YouTube channel that he will be keeping his fans entertained meanwhile as they await the second season.

A Nurse Toto Series ended with 13 episodes having featured different artists and comedians in it. It revolves around humor and drama that shows the character traits of all the actors and the patients who coming in for treatment.
